Tens of thousands of people over the age of 65 are being denied access to specialist mental health services because of ‘arbitrary’ age limits, the Royal College of Psychiatrists says. A new report, launched at the House of Commons on 13 October, exposes the ways in which older people are missing out on vital support and risking serious deterioration in their mental health.

Psychiatrists from the University of Liverpool set out to examine the relationship between maternal psychological distress and obesity in children. They presented their findings at the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry annual meeting in Dublin in September.
